Equipment for Pig

CO2

Stunning

Reference: CO

Description

The CO2 anesthetizing technique is an effective alternative to traditional stunning methods, while respecting animal welfare. CO2 is used to induce a loss of consciousness in pigs so that they can be slaughtered without pain or suffering. It is a method of anesthetizing by minimizing stress levels. This results in efficient stunning and higher quality meat.

The system consists of an external chassis and a pit into which the pigs descend. Inside the pit, the pigs are provided with the necessary CO2 concentration, which induces a state of relaxation to allow a painless and seizure-free slaughter.

The unit can be extended with an automatic pusher so that the pigs enter the unit completely relaxed thanks to its special design.

This technique has several advantages over traditional methods:

  • Reduces the formation of internal hematomas or blood spots.
  • Reduces the appearance of PSE (pale, soft and exudative).
  • It facilitates the slaughter of the animal as it is completely relaxed.
